PROP O: OUR SCHOOLS. OUR COMMUNITY. OUR FUTURE.
On the Ballot: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
Residents of the School District of Clayton will consider approving a $135 million, zero tax rate increase bond referendum on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
The measure will appear on ballots as Proposition O (Prop O). This marks the District’s first bond referendum in 16 years and requires approval by four of seven voters (57.14 percent) to pass.
Funds provided by Prop O will support an initial phase of facility improvements outlined in the District’s Long-Range Facilities Master Plan. This includes:
-
Infrastructure improvements at Glenridge Elementary School
-
Construction of a STEM Learning Lab at Clayton High School to expand career and technical education programming
-
Upgrades at Gay Field to improve safety, accessibility, and community access

In addition to the projects included in Prop O, the District will utilize existing capital improvement funds to complete updates to Clayton High School’s performing arts area, and athletic enhancements at Wydown Middle School and Adzick Field. The District will also continue working with its design team to plan for future phases of renovations at Meramec Elementary School and Captain Elementary School, where additional facility needs have been identified.
The project recommendations are the result of a multi-year effort in which District leadership worked closely with families, staff, students, and community members to develop the Long-Range Facilities Master Plan. This process included community conversations, forums, surveys, focus groups, professional facility and site assessments, enrollment projections, and feasibility studies.

The proposed bond issue will maintain the District’s current debt levy of $0.5110 per $100 of assessed valuation, resulting in no increase to the tax rate.
Seniors enrolled in the property tax freeze program will not see an increase in taxes on their primary residence.
